Small And Midsize Luxury SUV Sales In America - July 2017

After dropping below the 1,000-vehicles-a-month mark in April and May, sales of the Land Rover Discovery Sport climbed again in July. The Compact Luxury SUV outsold the company's ageing Range Rover Evoque for the third month in a row.

Subcompact and Compact Luxury SUVs continue to show strong growth; these sectors are 12.5 and 10.8% ahead of 2016 figures to date despite slowing sales in the wider industry.

Competition from more premium brands has led Volkswagen to announce the removal of the Touareg from the US market in July. Sales jumped up last month, though YTD figures are far adrift of 2016, which was hardly a bumper year for the Touareg itself. People seeking a high-riding SUV with a VW badge on the front will have the smaller Tiguan as an option.

You can click any model name in the tables below to find historical monthly and yearly U.S. auto sales data. You can also select a make and model at GCBC's Sales Stats page. These tables are now sortable, so you can rank luxury SUVs and crossovers any which way you like. Mobile users can now thumb across tables for full-width access. Suggestions on how GCBC should break down segments can be passed on through the Contact page.

Source: Automakers & ANDC * indicates a vehicle which is also shown in another GCBC segment breakdown GCBC isn't here to break down segments, an impossible task for any group, but to display sales data for the sake of comparison. The more ways sales data can be displayed, the better. This explains you'll see the XC70 listed with luxury cars as well as with SUVs and crossovers and the Touareg with luxury SUVs and mainstream SUVs... because readers have wanted it both ways. You can always find the sales results for EVERY vehicle and form your own competitive sets by using the All Vehicle Rankings posts.
