Small Car Sales In America – June 2017

The Ford Focus had a difficult month in June, though its overall sales for the year remain up a huge 21.3% on where they were last year. Interestingly, Honda’s figures for its new Civic sit down compared with their previous efforts, though this may be due to excitement around the new shape Civic of MY 2016 and 2017.

In the subcompact section the variously badged Toyota / Scion Yaris hatchback sees buyers turn their back, likely opting for its stablemate Mazda-2 based Yaris ia or tempted to trade up to the company’s new C-HR crossover, which follows the path carved by the Nissan Juke before it. Interestingly, the Juke’s YTD numbers are down by 5,311 – not far off the C-HR’s 5,498 units sold in 2017.

You can click any model name in the tables below to find historical monthly and yearly U.S. auto sales data. You can also select a make and model at GCBC’s Sales Stats page. These tables are sortable, so you can rank small cars of all kinds any which way you like. Mobile users can now thumb across the tables for full-width access. Suggestions on how GCBC should break down segments can be passed on through the Contact page.

GCBC isn’t here to break down segments, an impossible task for any group, but to display sales data for the sake of comparison. The more ways sales data can be displayed, the better. This explains why you’ll see the Encore and XV Crosstrek are listed with small SUVs, too, and the Acura ILX shown with mainstream cars is also displayed with luxury cars… because readers have wanted it both ways. You can always find the sales results for EVERY vehicle and form your own competitive sets by using the All Vehicle Rankings posts.
