January 2017 Canada Vehicle Sales Rankings – Top 268 Best-Selling Vehicles In Canada – Every Vehicle Ranked

2017 Mini Cooper Clubman JCW red
Canadian sales climbed to an all-time record high in 2013, 2014, 2015, and again in the 2016 calendar year.

If January is anything to go by – and it likely isn’t, given its low-volume nature – then 2017 will be, as well. Auto sales in January 2017 rose to an all-time January high of 111,000 units. Powered by another Ford F-Series surge – Ford truck sales rose 5% to 9303 units, or 8.4% of the market – auto sales last month were roughly one-fifth better than in the previous five Januarys.

Pickup truck sales declined overall, but trucks still earned 22% of the overall market. SUVs and crossovers jumped 11% to form 43% of the market, led by the Honda CR-V, as passenger car sales slid 5% to 29% of the market.

The Honda Civic was Canada’s best-selling car in January, beginning 2017 with the goal of eding the year as Canada’s most popular car in a 20th consecutive year.

Included in the overall vehicle list that now includes the Chevrolet Bolt, there are also sales figures now for the Mini Cooper Clubman.

Reminder: these are January 2017 rankings, but you can sort vehicles by January 2016 volume by clicking the January 2016 column header, or you can rank vehicles by improvements or declines using the % columns. Or, most importantly, you can list automakers together by selecting the Vehicle column header.

There are visible brand results, so when you sort the table by vehicle names to showcase, for example, all Hondas together, you’ll also see the Honda brand’s total. Auto brands are shown in bold to differentiate makes and models, manufacturers are bolded and italicized. At any time, click the Rank column to return to the original format. If you’re on a mobile device, you may need to choose the full version of the site (at the bottom of the page) in order to use the sortable function.

As always, you can find historical monthly and yearly sales figures for any of these vehicles by selecting a make and model at GCBC’s Sales Stats page. Mobile users can now thumb across the table for full-width access.
