2015 Year End Canada Vehicle Sales Rankings – Top 273 Best-Selling Vehicles In Canada – Every Vehicle Ranked

2016 Mazda CX-3 red
Canadian automobile buyers, businesses, and governmental departments registered 1.9 million new vehicles in calendar year 2015, a record high for auto sales in Canada.
18.4% of the new vehicles sold in Canada in 2015 were pickup trucks, up from 18.0% in 2014. SUVs and crossovers produced 36.1% of 2015’s new vehicle sales volume in Canada, up from 32.9% in 2014. Minivan market share fell from 5.1% in 2014 to 4.7% in 2015. Traditional cars accounted for less than 39% of Canada’s new vehicle sales volume.

The Ford F-Series was Canada’s best-selling line of vehicles for the seventh consecutive year. The top-ranked Ford’s lead over the second-ranked Ram P/U totalled 27,642 units, a gap greater than the total sales achieved by the whole Audi brand, Canada’s third-ranked premium brand.

Despite a sharp decline, the Ford Escape hung on to its crown as Canada’s top-selling SUV. The Dodge Grand Caravan similarly plunged sharply during a year in which its Windsor, Ontario, plant was temporarily shut down. But the Grand Caravan still controlled more than half Canada’s minivan market.

Among the top sellers, the greatest movement was achieved by the GMC Sierra (up from 8th last year to 4th in 2014), the Jeep Cherokee (up five spots to 15th), the Nissan Rogue (up from 15th to 12th), the Volkswagen Golf (up from 36th to 22nd), the Hyundai Tucson (up from 38th to 27th), and the Ford Explorer (up five spots to 29th).

New vehicles which weren’t even on sale throughout the year, the Honda HR-V and Mazda CX-3, ranked 59th and 70th, impressive results given the fact that they missed the first five and four months, respectively.

Reminder: these are year end sales rankings, but you can sort vehicles by December 2015 volume by clicking the December 2015 column header, or you can rank vehicles by improvements or declines using the % columns. Or, most importantly, you can list automakers together by selecting the Vehicle column header.

There are visible brand results, so when you sort the table by vehicle names to showcase, for example, all Fords together, you’ll also see the Ford brand’s total. Manufacturers are shown in bold to differentiate makes and models. At any time, click the Rank column to return to the original format. If you’re on a mobile device, you may need to choose the full version of the site (at the bottom of the page) in order to use the sortable function.

As always, you can find historical monthly and yearly sales figures for any of these vehicles by selecting a make and model at GCBC’s Sales Stats page.

* Italicized unranked lines are nothing more than available breakdowns, already included in the model’s total, not in addition to the model’s total.
² Total Prius Family sales: up 2.7% to 7150 in 2015; up 9.7% to 361 in December.
³ Total Santa Fe sales: up 2.4% to 33,246 in 2015, up 5.3% to 2321 in December.
† Mini Cooper includes sales of the Hardtop, Convertible, Clubman, Coupe, Roadster, and Paceman.
Total Genesis sales: down 20.5% to 2406 in 2015; down 19.7% to 102 in 2015.
¤ Automakers release sales figures for the E-Class and CLS-Class together and the Passat and CC together. (December’s Passat breakdown, sourced by ANDC, are not confirmed by Volkswagen.)
º Land Cruiser is a commercial vehicle in Canada. Audi’s A4 sales data includes sales of the Allroad.
Sales data for brands such as Bentley, Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Rolls-Royce are unfortunately not broken down by model. ANDC estimates say sales for those brands in 2015 were 158, 216, 122, and 79, respectively. Total Maserati volume is reported, but not by specific models. It is believed that Tesla sold 1556 copies of their Model S during the first 11 months of 2015.
