Now in June, the Escalade and Escalade ESV, with 2 Escalade EXT sales, climbed to nearly 3000 units in June, a 57% year-over-year increase and an 18% jump compared with May of this year.

Cadillac sold 1907 regular-wheelbase Escalades, an 84% year-over-year improvement, and 1058 long-wheelbase Escalade ESVs, a 59% jump compared with June of last year. In other words, the big Escalade outsold the Land Rover Range Rover, and then Cadillac sold another 1907 copies of the “smaller” Escalade.

This sales pace still doesn’t compare with the achievements made by the Escalade a decade ago. Cadillac sold 2698 regular-wheelbase Escalades in June 2004 and 1246 Escalade ESVs (and another 670 Escalade EXTs.)

But in 2004, the Mercedes-Benz GL-Class didn’t exist, we hadn’t yet witnessed a Hurricane Katrina-fuelled gas price increase, and the purchase/lease of a gigantic SUV wasn’t perceived to be as distasteful.

In case you hadn’t heard, June was a pretty good month for GM’s other big SUVs, the increasingly costly ones made by Chevrolet and GMC. You can click any model name in the tables below to find historical monthly and yearly U.S. auto sales data. You can also select a make and model at GCBC’s Sales Stats page. These tables are now sortable, so you can rank large luxury SUVs any which way you like. Suggestions on how GCBC should break down segments can be passed on through the Contact page.
