Large Luxury SUV Sales In Canada - April 2014 YTD

Somewhat astonishingly, Mercedes-Benz Canada sold more than 300 GL-Class SUVs in April 2014, an 18% increase from the already high 257 sold in April 2013.

The GL ranked tenth among all premium brand SUVs and crossovers in terms of Canadian April sales, 103 sales back of Mercedes-Benz's own GLK. In so doing, the GL made other full-size luxury SUVs look terribly niche. That's not a bad thing if exclusivity is your goal, but we all know automakers - luxury or mainstream - want to sell in large numbers these days.

"Wherever we are not number one, we will strive to become it," Mercedes-Benz boss Dieter Zetsche said two years ago.

Regardless, the GLs popularity in upper-class communities hasn't reduced the level of attraction upper-class communities feel toward the GL.
