Minivan Sales In America – March 2014 YTD

2013 Mazda 5 grey

America’s two best-selling minivans in March 2014 were twins from the Chrysler Group, the Chrysler Town & Country and leading Dodge Grand Caravan. They owned 51% of the minivan market in March, 49% of the minivan market in the first quarter of 2014.

Overall, segment-wide sales jumped 8.4% in March as decreased sales originated with just two vans, the Toyota Sienna and low-volume Mazda 5.

Even Volkswagen Routan sales are on the upswing – how, we don’t quite know – and Nissan Quest sales jumped 16% last month.

Minivans continue to form a very small portion of the overall auto industry’s new vehicle sales volume. But at Chrysler, these vans are doing yeoman’s work, attracting 14% of the company’s March sales.
