August 2013 U.S. Passenger Car Sales Rankings - Top 152 Best-Selling Cars In America - Every Car Ranked

Now at 30,193 units, the Toyota Camry's lead over the Honda Accord in the race to end 2013 as America's best-selling car appears secure. Honda has already sold more Accords in eight months of 2013 than in all of 2011, but Honda would need the Accord to outsell the Camry by 7550 units per month over the remainder of the year to end 2012 as the best-selling car in America. Not gonna happen.

Honda's massive August resulted in the Civic rising from fourth spot behind the Nissan Altima to third spot, 2281 sales ahead of the Altima.

Infiniti's Q50 is the only car to be added to this long list of passenger cars this month. The whole Q50/Q60/G family is down 20% this year. As an individual model, the Q50 is three spots back of the Fiat 500L.

The bigger of the two Fiats moved up from 126th spot in July to a ranking of 119 at the end of August.

No two cars in the top 30 reported worse year-over-year declines in the first two-thirds of 2013 than the two biggest Chevrolet sedans, the Malibu and Impala. Malibu sales are down 16.5% this year (but rose 16.5% in August), while Impala sales are down 12.3%, but fell 22.2% in August.

These are year-to-date rankings, but you can sort cars by August volume by clicking the August 2013 column header, or you can rank cars by improvements or declines using the % columns. Or, most importantly, you can list automakers together by selecting the Car column header. Just remember, the list is horizontally flipped from the norm: YTD on the left, monthly data on the right.

As always, you can find historical monthly and yearly sales figures for any of these vehicles by selecting a make and model at GCBC's Sales Stats page.

Italicized unranked lines are nothing more than available breakdowns, already included in the model's total, not in addition to the model's total.
Sales data for brands such as Aston Martin, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Lotus, Maybach, Rolls-Royce etc. are unfortunately not broken down by model. ANDC estimates say sales for those brands in the first eight months of 2013 were 552, 1296, 368, 176, zero, and 672, respectively. HybridCars.com estimates that Tesla Model S sales totalled 13,150 units through eight months, which would be good enough to place it in the top 80 overall. Total Maserati and Bentley volume is reported, but not by specific models.
* Total Toyota Prius family sales up 3.9% to 170,866 in 2013, up 29.6% to 27,358 in August.

* Combined, the new Q50 and the outgoing G sedan are down 26.4% to 26,700 this year but rose 6.5% to 5454 in August. The G37 coupe and convertible and its renamed Q60 successor (same car) are down 22.3% to 7315 this year, falling 7.4% to 1054 in August. The Q50, Q60, and all G cars are down 19.7% to 34,015 this year - good enough to crack the top 50 - but rose 3.9% to 6508 in August.
* Chrysler markets the Viper as an SRT, but we show it here as a Dodge so you can see the vehicles with like-minded products when you sort vehicles alphabetically using the Car column header.
