Oldsmobile Alero Sales Figures

Oldsmobile Alero

The Oldsmobile Alero was a mid-size car that was produced by Oldsmobile from 1999 to 2004. It was the replacement for the Oldsmobile Cutlass and was designed to compete with the likes of the Chevrolet Malibu and Ford Contour. The Oldsmobile Alero was discontinued in 2004.

Oldsmobile Alero Overview

The Oldsmobile Alero was a compact car produced by the Oldsmobile division of General Motors from 1999 to 2004. It was the last car to bear the Oldsmobile name, as the brand was phased out in 2004. The Alero was introduced as a replacement for the Oldsmobile Achieva and was intended to attract younger buyers to the brand.

The Alero shared the GM N-body platform with the Pontiac Grand Am and Chevrolet Malibu. It was available in both coupe and sedan body styles, featuring a modern design that aimed to shed Oldsmobile’s dated image. Over its production run, the Alero was available in various trim levels, including the base GX, mid-level GL, and the sportier GLS.

The Alero was equipped with a reasonably modern interior for its time, with available features such as leather seats, a sunroof, and a premium sound system. Its instrument panel featured a driver-centric design, and the cabin aimed to provide a blend of comfort and functionality. The Alero was generally well-received for its ride quality, handling, and overall value. Its styling was also appreciated, helping the model stand out in a competitive segment.

The Alero’s production came to an end in 2004. Notably, the last Alero to roll off the assembly line (also the last-ever Oldsmobile) was signed by all of the assembly plant workers and is now a part of the R.E. Olds Transportation Museum’s collection.

Oldsmobile Alero Sales Figures

The Oldsmobile Alero is significant as the last model produced by Oldsmobile, a brand with over a century of automotive history. While it couldn’t turn the tide for Oldsmobile’s declining market presence, the Alero represented a sincere effort by the brand to appeal to a new generation of car buyers.
