Up a few thousand rungs on the price ladder, the gorgeous but predictable Aston Martin Rapide fell to Porsche's Panamera Turbo. Car & Driver also found the 2011 Ford Shelby GT500 to be greatly improved but significantly overpriced.
Seven of the eleven automobiles which underwent performance testing for the August issue of C/D used automatic transmissions. One, the Porsche Panamera Turbo, used a direct-shift gearbox. The BMW hybrid came with a CVT. This meant only two cars, the two Fords incidentally, had three pedals. 0-60 mph times for all the cars tested by Car & Driver in the August 2010 issue are below.

Porsche Panamera Turbo: 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds
Ford Shelby GT500: 0-60 mph in 4.1 seconds

Stupid Panamera. Hate that it's so fast. Hate that it's so ugly, really. If only it could be ugly and fast.
