TOP 10 BEST-SELLING SUVs IN CANADA - JUNE 2010

1660 + 791 = 2451. If, as so many critics say, General Motors didn't split up their vehicles and market them under different brands but sold just as many cars and trucks, the GMC Terrain's 791 sales would lift the Chevrolet Equinox from the fifth most-popular utility vehicle in Canada to the second most-popular. A fair jump. And a fair criticism, although perhaps unfounded. Then again, has General Motors ever considered discussing this issue with the 791 Canadian buyers of GMC Terrains to find out?

Naturally, as expected, as usual, the Ford Escape was the dominant player in Canada's SUV/crossover/utility vehicle category in the month of June. SUVs ranked 2nd, 3rd, and 4th combined only beat the Escape by 18 units. These are high profile vehicles, too - Hyundai's Santa Fe, the Toyota RAV4, and Honda CR-V - but the Escape consumes the collective Canadian vehicle buyer's mind like little else.

  2. me too, just can't get over the staggering sales of the Escape on such an old design - how do they do it?
    - large discounts?
    - option packaging?

    Can't say it impressed me much when I sat in one a few months back. Is anyone going to knock this vehicle off its top pedistal?

    Also amazing is how close the 2,3,4 positions are!
