Placing the point of entry at $26,995 in the United States, Buick has brought the upcoming Regal to hazardous grounds. Sized like cars which will offer their upper-tier models at that price; larger and less performance-oriented than slightly more expensive luxury cars, the 2011 Buick Regal is certainly positioned in an aggressive manner. The Buick Regal CXL is, as mentioned, $26,995, a price that includes the destination charge. Opting for the turbo allows the price to rise to $29,495 (again, with the destination charge built-in) while horsepower rises from 182 to 220. Buick says more trim lines are on the way for the 2010 model year. For now, buyers must settle for CXL or CXL Turbo.
Ironically, without a CX model of its own, the Buick Regal CXL is priced identically to the Buick LaCrosse CX. Buick's addition of a CX and CXS in 2012 will, to the best of my knowledge, drop the base price of the Regal by approximately $3,000 while at the same time boosting the max payout to $32K or so.
At $26,995 then, what else is available for consumers who are considering a 2011 Buick Regal but can't settle? Take a look at the three cars below as prime opposition before scrolling further for rivals to the Buick Regal CXL Turbo.
MAZDA 6 s TOURING PLUS: $27,200 for a 272-bhp V6, cloth seating, power driver's seat, a 6-speaker stereo, and 101.9 cubic feet of passenger space. And two Good 12 wins.
VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT CC SPORT: $28,560 for a turbocharged 2.0L with 200 horsepower, a 6-speed manual, heated and power-operated front seats, and an 8-speaker stereo.
HYUNDAI SONATA SE V6: $23,920 for a 3.3L V6 with 249 horsepower and a 29mpg highway rating. Included Premium Package brings a sunroof and a 6-speaker stereo.
2011 BUICK REGAL CXL TURBO 3 TO BEAT
ACURA TSX: $30,120 nets you a 201-bhp 4-cylinder, leather seating, a 7-speaker stereo, and either a 5-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual for the same price.
HYUNDAI GENESIS 3.8: $33,800 for a 290-bhp V6, dual climate control, lots of leather and enough airbags to cushion a fall from the Empire State Building. And two Good 12 wins.
FORD FUSION SPORT V6 AWD: $28,080 finds a Fusion with all-wheel drive and a 265-bhp V6, SYNC, a power driver's seat, and more importantly..... a unique welcome chime.

The Regal is just so good looking. Buying a Buick instead of any single 1 of these cars would be a challenge tho
ReplyDeleteI like the Regal, but after driving a Lincoln MKZ w/ the sport package and AWD that had been reduced to $35k (brand new) i would be hard pressed to choose a less powerful, no AWD, countless less luxury features, less brand prestige, etc Buick Regal.
ReplyDeleteHowever it is quite a feat that the Regal is as strong as a competitor as it is! congrats GM.
